A NATIONAL INITIATIVE THAT PROVIDED FOOD RATION PACKS TO DAILY WAGERS, MIGRANT LABOUR, STREET CHILDREN, MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES EFFECTED DUE TO THE COVID-19 LOCKDOWN IN 2020

ABOUT THE INITIATIVE

On 22nd March 2020, India faced an unprecedented situation. The might of the Coronavirus resulted in 1.3 billion Indians going into a complete nationwide lockdown. While the country struggled to understand the virus and aggressively battled to control it and most organised sectors decided to work from home, the informal sector of our country comprising of millions of daily wage workers were unable to sit back at home.

A group of young responsible Indians anticipated a hunger crisis that was about to unfold because of this lockdown. India was going to starve! Something needed to be done!

With a mission to feed those most effected due to the lockdown - migrant workers, the single mothers, widows, homeless children & many marginalised communities who depend on a daily wage to feed themselves, Youth Feed India brought together the Youth of India to see our country through the most trying times of our generation with a single mission - India must not got hungry!

Working through a network of volunteers along with the principal partner Safa Society, multiple NGOs, State Governments and the Police the initiative made sure that fewer people went to sleep hungry on a daily basis!
