The Gyan Shakthi Project
(For holistic development of children of migrant families living in urban slums)
The Heart of Gyan Shakthi
In partnership with Akshaya Vidya Foundation, YFI is launching the Gyan Shakthi Project to support nearly 4,000 children (Classes 1–10) across 140 underserved urban slum centres in Hyderabad. These are children who live in some of the most difficult conditions - cramped homes, irregular food, limited healthcare, and few opportunities. Most are first-generation learners. The project is designed to break this cycle by combining nutrition, health, and education support.
This isn’t just about schooling, it’s about building the foundations of wellbeing:

Nutrition – daily fruit, growth tracking, anaemia checks

Preventive Health – IFA supplementation, deworming, hygiene education

Empowerment for Girls – menstrual hygiene awareness & anaemia prevention

Learning Support – strengthening academics in evening learning centres

Capacity Building – training tutors to integrate health & learn
Phase 1

32 learning centres across Rasoolpura, Addagutta, Musheerabad & Kavadiguda.
