In September 2024, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana experienced heavy rains and flooding caused by a depression over the Bay of Bengal.
How?
A land-based cyclone, fueled by moisture from the Arabian Sea and heat from eastern India, brought unprecedented rainfall to Andhra Pradesh & Telangana.
The state received an astonishing 520 millimeters of rain in just 24 hours, surpassing 27% of its annual rainfall in a mere 48 hours.​​
When?
The intense downpour, which began on August 30 and peaked on September 3, led to severe flooding across the region.
How it impacted people?
The flooding caused widespread destruction and loss, with around 1,40,000 families being affected.
A heartfelt thank you to the incredible network of restaurants, logistics partners, volunteers, donors, and distribution teams who came together to provide relief during the torrential rains.
